More and more, we are finding that all the items that used to perform solely functional tasks in the kitchen are increasingly becoming fashion and design objects. There have also been moves to diversify the uses that can be found for kitchen canisters. Some kitchen canisters now employ Tupperware technology and air tight plastic lids. These are designed specifically to keep food fresh and can be used for cookies, vegetables and baked goods. You can even put these canisters in the fridge to keep the contents extra safe. Another way in which kitchen canisters have been adapting is to come in different shapes and sizes to suit the food they are designed to hold. The most obvious example of this is pasta canisters which are long and tall. They can be made from different materials but are usually airtight. Another obvious example that comes to mind of kitchen canisters with special shapes is canisters that are designed to hold breakfast cereal. They are exactly the shape of a cereal box and even have a pouring flap on the top that you can open and close with ease. Other types of kitchen canisters are used for the basic food items that are traditionally found in kitchens. These include flour, sugar, tea and coffee. These foodstuffs used to have a far greater importance than they do today and you can still find a great many traditional canisters with old fashioned designs that have the name of the product they are designed to hold painted on to the side. These can be very good for creating a traditional feel. Kitchen canisters come in as many shapes, sizes and styles as you can think of. Prices for good quality air tight canisters usually begin at about $20 and can increase to about $100 for a good set of canisters. However, for really ultra chic designer canisters, you can be paying up to five times that if you are so inclined. |
