Outdoor Kitchen

More Homeowners Installing an Outdoor Kitchen in Their Backyards

Nesting used to mean fixing your home – but it is moving outside – as more homeowners are adding an outdoor kitchen to their yards. These spaces are often a complete outdoor kitchen, including a refrigerator, sink and barbeque, making their yard a complete destination location.

Depending on the size of the homeowner’s budget, an outdoor kitchen can be as simple as an upgraded barbeque with a grill and gas ring. This option generally runs between several hundred dollars and a few thousand, depending on the choice. Some of these resemble traditional barbeques, whereas others are designed to look like a built in piece of stonework that is simply placed in a homeowner’s yard. This outdoor kitchen option also does not require that a homeowner have an existing gas or electric line to tie into. Rather, these products are generally run off small portable propane tanks.

The next option would be to install an outdoor kitchen barbeque, which would entail having a construction crew build the base out of concrete, add a gas line and inserting a barbeque into the space. Once everything is built, then the surface of the outdoor kitchen can be finished to match the look and feel of the yard.

Perhaps the most expensive outdoor kitchen option is installing a complete kitchen. This would include having a refrigerator and sink installed along with a barbeque and grill. This requires additional electrical work, as well as requires water and drainage lines, in addition to having a gas line for the barbeque. For a finishing touch, the countertops can be covered in natural stone, as well as have additional storage built it.

No matter what design you choose, it is necessary to ensure that you considers the environment in which you live. For example, if you live in a warm area then you may want to have their outdoor kitchen space covered by a Ramada, to provide shaded seating to enjoy. Another option is to install misters that cool down the outside temperatures, which can be made hotter by the heat of a grill. And, this is an option that homeowners may want to consider if they live in a wet climate. This will ensure that they can use their outdoor kitchen and eating space despite bad weather.

If you are interested designing and installing an outdoor kitchen, than the best thing to do is visit your nearest barbeque and patio showroom. That will enable you to identify what products fit your price range and needs. And, while you are there, you can ask if they can handle the entire construction and installation process or recommend a contractor who is experienced with outdoor kitchen installation.
