Kitchen Remodel

Whether Simple or Complex, a Kitchen Remodel Require Planning

Have you had it with your kitchen design? Is it time for a kitchen remodel? Then read on for more information on kitchen remodeling - either by making a few small changes or scrapping the entire space.

A fairly inexpensive kitchen remodel can be accomplished inexpensively by repainting existing kitchen cabinetry or having the existing doors and hardware removed and refaced. Kitchen cabinet refacing is the most cost-effective kitchen remodel option for completely transforming an outdated kitchen on a budget. It involves removing and throwing away the hardware and kitchen cabinet doors, but keeping the base units themselves. Companies that specialize in this then install new door fronts, drawers, trim and veneers so that the old bases match the new finish and style. Another bonus for kitchen cabinet refacing is that your kitchen remains useable and functional at all times – as opposed to a complete kitchen remodel.

Consider updating your flooring for a new look, instead of embarking on an entire kitchen remodel.
Years ago linoleum was the most popular kitchen flooring. However, over time, many homeowners realized that it is easily scuffed, hard to clean and in general not a glamorous kitchen flooring choice.
Today, homeowners have gravitated away from linoleum to a wealth of new and more traditional kitchen flooring choices – from concrete to stone and tile to wood.

Another option to consider during a kitchen remodel is installing new countertops. Today, homeowners have a number of choices for kitchen countertop surfaces. While some homeowners love the look of wood, others are opting for concrete or even steel kitchen countertops. However, some of these surfaces are porous and require sealing. Or, like stainless steel, once a scratch happens, resurfacing the material is not an option.

Or, you can even install one of the new generation of kitchen sinks during your kitchen remodel – the cooking sink. These cooking sinks include two basins, one for cooking in and one for washing up. The basin for cooking generally includes a pot and heating element to boil water. Once the water has heated up – you can throw your pasta or rice right into the cooking sink. This is a particularly handy for homeowners who are unable to lift large pots of water and carry them across a kitchen. And, emptying a kitchen sink is a breeze. The homeowner simply selects the drainage button and the water runs down the kitchen drain.

But above all, when deciding on whether to purse a kitchen remodel, take your time. Ask for samples from a company that refaces cabinets and set them in your kitchen for a while. Or, consider painting one or two of your kitchen cabinet doors in your favorite colors to see how they look in different lights. Live with sample flooring and countertop materials to determine if you really love them or just like them before beginning your kitchen remodel.
